Glenn Branca: Symphony No 13 (Hallucination City)

I performed in Glenn Branca’s Symphony No. 13 (Hallucination City) for 100 electric guitars, in both New Jersey and Los Angeles.
The atonal piece uses all the notes but only two chord shapes, written to take advantage of custom tunings across the guitar sections. It was an amazing experience to collaborate with so many awesome musicians and to experience the shear volume of the climatic parts. The water was splashing out of the glass of water near my feet.
Branca once told the performers: “I don’t know what you guys are doing in here, but I’m hearing voices in this music.”
